🩺 Profession & Expertise:
Professor Dr Burkhard Sievers is Chief Physician of the Medical Clinic I for Cardiology, Angiology, Pneumology, Nephrology and Internal Intensive Care Medicine at the Sana Clinic in Remscheid (NRW) and, together with Doc Esser, owner of the Cardiomed24 practice in Meerbusch and founder of the Gender Heart Centre.
He has been a recognised gender physician since March 2021 and is involved as deputy chairman of the board of the German Society for Gender-Specific Medicine e.V. and in the German Society of Cardiology as a nucleus member of the Gender Medicine in Cardiology working group and in the Gender Medicine lighthouse project of the Medizin.NRW cluster.
With a deep understanding of gender medicine, he is passionate about ensuring that medical practice takes gender-specific needs into account and that his patients receive personalised and individualised treatment.
🌍 Commitment:
Prof Sievers is actively committed to improving healthcare for female patients. He is particularly keen to raise awareness of appropriate healthcare treatment for all genders and gender-specific aspects of diseases. At the Gender Heart Centre at the Sana Klinikum Remscheid, Prof. Sievers and his team carry out gender-specific examinations for cardiovascular diseases.
The internist, cardiologist and angiologist would like to communicate the relevance of gender medicine in clinical practice and medical research to medical professionals, but also inform medical laypeople about this important topic. For this reason, he launched his health policy YouTube channel ‘Sievers SprechRunde’ in 2020.
